Experience Royal Bintan Heritage
A Journey
for the Soul
Guests are welcomed into experiences shaped by daily life, the surrounding landscape, and the people who live and work alongside it. Within the resort, moments unfold at an unhurried pace, learning traditional cooking methods, gathering fresh herbs from the garden, and experiencing spa therapies inspired by generations of local knowledge, using ingredients sourced from nearby forests and coastline. Meals are prepared over open fire and shared simply, guided by those who know each step not from instruction, but from lived practice.
Beyond the resort, curated journeys invite guests deeper into the soul of Bintan Island. Walk through surrounding farmland with local guides, drift along quiet mangrove rivers reached only by boat, or hike the forested trails of Gunung Bintan, where panoramic views reward the climb. Days may also include time in Panglong Village, home to the sea gypsies, visits to local markets, or workshops with artisans who pass on their skills by showing rather than explaining, each experience rooted in place and shaped by the people who continue its traditions.
Hiking to Gunung Bintan
Explore the natural heart of the island on a guided hike to Gunung Bintan, led by those who know its paths and stories. The trail winds through dense forest, crossing streams and rising gently toward panoramic viewpoints that reveal the island from above. Along the way, learn about local flora, wildlife, and the cultural significance of the mountain. The journey offers a quiet connection to nature, rewarded with fresh air, sweeping views, and a sense of discovery rooted in Bintan’s landscape.
Sand Dunes and Blue Lakes
Discover an unexpected landscape in Bintan, where rolling sand dunes meet striking blue lakes shaped by nature and time. This guided exploration invites guests to walk across soft white sands, take in the vivid contrast of color and light, and learn about the area’s unique formation and local significance. The experience offers a quiet sense of wonder, ideal for photography, reflection, and connecting with a lesser-known side of the island.
A Chef-Guided Cooking Journey
Join one of our chefs for a guided walk through the gardens, where cassava, turmeric, greens, and flowering plants reveal the origins of each dish. Engaging the senses along the way, guests then move to the open-air kitchen, where the menu is inspired by the day’s harvest or shaped by personal preference. Guided by traditional techniques, dishes are prepared by hand before being shared together at the table, celebrating craftsmanship, connection, and the timeless ritual of communal dining.
Market Morning Experience
Begin the day with a leisurely ride into the village as morning unfolds at the local market, alive with the aromas of fresh herbs, banana-leaf sweets, and warm conversation. Among seasonal produce and handcrafted goods, guests gain insight into daily rhythms and the foundations of local culinary heritage. The experience may continue into a cooking session or inspire a meal prepared by our chef using ingredients sourced directly from the market.
Yoga in The Garden
Practice yoga in the calm of the garden, where movement and breath flow beneath the trees and shifting light. Each session is thoughtfully guided by experienced instructors and adapted to individual needs, offering a grounding moment to reconnect with balance, presence, and inner stillness.
Traditional Fishing
Set out at dawn with a local Bintan fisherman who knows these waters through generations of experience. Learn traditional fishing techniques as you cast lines, read the currents, and bring in the morning’s catch. Later in the day, your fish is prepared by our kitchen and served in the traditional style, completing a journey that connects sea, culture, and table.
